The Kahtein robe-offering ceremony in Myanmar celebrated between October and November, in the month of Tazaungmone or Tazaungdine. Monks are offered robes, and feasts are held for merit-making. At the Shwedagon and other pagodas, all-night weaving contests (Matho Thingan) take place, in which participants race to finish weaving robes for the Buddha images by dawn.
