Nathlaung Kyaung

From the top of Thatbinnyu it is possible to see the Nathlaung Kyaung Temple to the southwest. It is Bagan's only Hindu Vaishnavite temple and was probably built in the 10th century to serve Bagan's Indian community of merchants and craftsmen. Little is left of the original structure but inside there are alcoves which originally held brick and stucco images of Vishnu - the remains of one of these statues are in the main alcove. Some of the sculptures from this temple are in the Bagan Museum.
