Gawdawpalin Temple

Gawdawpalin Temple, built during the reign of Narapatisithu (1173-1210), is a thinner and slightly shorter version of Thatbinnyu. It sustained servere damage during an earthquake in 1975, but has now been serously impaired by the construction of the Bagan Museum. From the south, the huge 'wedding cake' museum completely blocks out the neighbouring temple.
